Easy on the Eyes: Dior 5 Couleurs Eye Palette #970, Stylish Move Review and Swatches

Dior eye shadow quints are to die for, which is why I love to review them. Simply put, in my opinion, they are universally flattering, highly pigmented, easily blendable, and the powders are so finely milled that they seem creamy. Unlike the hit-or-miss factor associated with other brands, every Dior quint I've tried has been exceptional. So when I went to my Dior counter a couple of weeks ago for a makeover with Vincent Lee, one of the National Diorshow Artists, I was thrilled when he applied the palette "Stylish Move" on me.

Dior 5 Couleurs Palette #970, Stylish Move

Stylish Move is a lovely purple and plum-based palette consisting of a deep, deep purple plum, a lighter, pinker plum, a purple taupe, a beautiful pale pink, and very shimmery neutral cream. All shadows in the palette are shimmery, but not overly so. On the lid, the darkest plum has a subtle sheen while the mid-range colors all have definite shimmer and the cream color is nearly metallic.

This is a gorgeous and well thought-out collection. The colors work in perfect harmony and complement each other exquisitely. This is one where you can literally use all 5 colors in the palette at one time, and because they are so graduated and complementary, it isn't garish or over-the-top. I've used the neutral, taupish color on my lid with the pinker plum on the inside corner of my lid, followed by the darkest plum in my crease, the pink on the brow bone, and the cream color along the inner arch of my nose (where my nose and eye meet). I don't do this every day--I just wanted to see if it was possible and how it would turn out. Happily, I didn't look like a Robert Palmer girl! I've also done very subtle eyes by applying the pink all across the lid with one of the mid-toned colors in the crease and the darkest plum as a liner. Very office-appropriate!

Here are some swatches of the colors:
From top: Deep plum, pink plum, purpled taupe, pale pink and cream. Taken in indirect outside light.

Same array of colors taken in direct sunlight. The shimmer is visible in this picture.

When Vincent applied the shadows, he placed the darkest color at my lash line with the purpled taupe in my crease and the pale pink at my brow bone, creating an ombre effect and a very smokey look:

As you can see, despite the fairly dramatic look of the colors in the pan, the finished look is a very neutral plum smokey eye...I love this!

Bottom line: I adore this palette. It works beautifully on my brown eyes, but should be equally beautiful on blue or green eyes, as it really is a neutral plum. The colors stay true all day, don't crease, and don't fade. Application is a breeze as the colors are creamy, pigmented, and easy to blend. It's virtually idiot-proof! I highly recommend this one to just about anyone out there.

WHY haven't I bought this quint? The colors look stunning on your skin and even better on your eyes. I think I drooled over your eyes when you had your makeover. Great review, thanks!

I better check it out in person. I *just* sold my untouched Dior quint in Misty Mauves in my blog sale. I think I need for my purples to be muted, greyed down a bit. You brown-eyed girls have all the fun!

This is one of the few Dior quints that I have hit pan on! I love this palette (I have blue/green eyes).
