Okay, so you all know by now that I'm loving the Blue Tie Palette from Dior's Fall 2011 Collection. I got a very, very dramatic makeover from Vincent Lee of Dior recently using Blue Tie, and I thought I'd give you a look at how I choose to wear the colors for a normal day.
In case you've forgotten, here's how Vincent did my eyes:
Now, this is a very dramatic eye! Vincent was playing around when he did me since I don't tend to freak out about things and he decided to do something that he would ordinarily do for editorial (magazine) shoots. This isn't an everyday look by any means. It's gorgeous and I love it, but it definitely isn't Wal-Mart friendly, know what I mean?
So when I got Blue Tie home, I decided to play around with it myself, and I've come up with several combinations that are much more suitable for daily activities that don't involve a little black dress and the opera. I've decided to show you one of them today just in case you're still on the fence about whether or not you need this palette.
Here are the eyes:
As you can see, this look is much more understated than what I got at the Dior counter. To achieve it, I applied the navy blue shade along the lash line and the silver in the crease. I highlighted with the pale champagne shade from Chanel's Ombre Perlees de Chanel palette from Spring 2011. I lined the upper lid with Bobbi Brown's Denim Ink Gel Eye Liner, then smudged it a little with the blue-black shadow in Blue Tie. I also used the blue-black (bottom left in picture above) to smudge beneath the eye. I completed the look with Diorshow Iconic Mascara.
As for the rest of my face, I used the following:
- Foundation: Diorskin Nude foundation #23
- Blush: NARS Angelika
- Lips: The pretty soft pink in the Blue Tie palette.
Here's the finished result:
As you can see, the look, while not exactly natural or "no-makeup makeup" is definitely more wearable for everyday than what I initially had done at the counter.
These colors are very versatile and can be applied sheerly or opaquely for differing effects, which is what makes them so wonderful, in my opinion. I can literally go from looking like I'm stepping out of a magazine ad to a look suitable for going shopping. LOVE!

I think you did an excellent job making such a dramatic eye palette more wearable for every day. You have the right coloring for it, and it looks marvelous! Your subtle lips are the perfect foil.

Beautiful! Much nicer application by you!
July 27, 2011 at 2:19 PMI love the look, especially the lip color, on you! I wish it translated that way on me.. darn my mauve lips! ;)
July 27, 2011 at 4:13 PMIf it makes you feel better, I would give anything for darker lips. Mine are so pale that if I don't wear color on them, people ask me if I'm sick!

Hi! I just bloghopped and followed from Everyday Beauty after reading your own reasons for blogging..well your blog is lovely and I'm looking forward to your next posts! :)
July 27, 2011 at 6:56 PMHave you ever tried ELF Fuchsia Fusion blush? It's a dupe for Nars Angelika..my last post was about that..still Angelika looks so pretty on you! x
No, I haven't tried the ELF Fuschia Fusion--good call! I'm always looking for good dupes! If I ever run out of Angelika (which at this rate isn't likely, lol) I'll definitely check it out. As a matter of fact, I'll probably check it out anyway and have it as a backup, since I'm notorious for losing blush!
Off to check out your blog now... :)
