FOTD with MAC LE Nordstrom Exclusive: Double Feature #8

The Double Feature #8 duo is one of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale exclusives that I picked up a few weeks ago. It consists of a bright, true orange (much brighter than in the picture above) and a deep navy that leans toward charcoal. On the skin, the color is more grey than blue.

To be honest, after the "oooooohhhh, aren't these gorgeous?"-ness wore off, I wasn't sure I would be able to find a way to wear it. I mean, it is orange and navy, and I tend to do deeper colors rather than brights. But hey, I got it anyway, and I was determined to make it work.

Taken in indirect light, where you can see the bluer base of the charcoal color. It actually does appear somewhat navy in this shot, but in regular lighting, it's not.

In direct sunlight, the shimmer is more apparent. You can also see how much grey/charcoal there is in the navy color.

Both of the colors in Double Feature #8 are slightly shimmery, but not overly so. Rather, the shimmer/sheen adds dimension to the colors without looking glittery. I love that, since I personally don't think I could pull off a really shimmery orange...just too much! As it stands, both of the colors in the duo work quite well. I will say that the navy, in particular, is very sheer. I like that because it makes it much easier to work with to create a relatively subtle eye. However, if you're looking for serious dark drama from an eye shadow, this is NOT the duo for you.

However, if you're looking for something nice and summery with a bit of depth, Double Feature #8 may be just what you're looking for!

This was so simple, it's crazy. I just swiped the well-pigmented orange across my lids, added a couple of layers of sheer charcoal to the crease, lined my top lash line with Chanel's Ecriture de Chanel Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in black, and finished with Diorshow Iconic mascara. For my lips, I used Revlon's Colorburst Lip Gloss in Strawberry, an orange-based red. Blush was courtesy of Chanel, as well, with the Soleil Tan de Chanel in Bronze Corail. Easy, easy look--it literally took me less than 10 minutes, and it would have been less, but the eye liner took forever due to the fact that my over-caffeinated hands were shaking!

Last time I checked, Double Feature #8 was still available at Nordstrom
