So, have you ever wondered what other women carry around in their makeup bags? I always do. I'm always amazed when I see a high-maintenance type who carries only one lipstick around, versus the "natural" beauty who carries her entire trunk case with her when she runs about town. I love to see what women consider "essentials", what their favorite items are, and how they organize things.
That being said, I'm a criminal makeup hoarder. I got the above Dior Beauty bag a few months ago as a Gift With Purchase. It's really not that big, but it's very roomy inside, and I've been dumping various items into it ever since I got it. I thought seriously about editing half (or more) of it out before I did this post, but I figured that was cheating, so here you have it: my "must-have" daily essentials. Trust me, this isn't going to be pretty.
Before I post the first photo (yes, it took 2 photos to shoot everything), I want to be clear on a few points. First, I do NOT use ANY of these items every single day. As I said, I've been hoarding, so cut me some slack. Second, when I was emptying the bag, it was literally like watching clowns piling out of a Volkswagen. Makeup just kept coming, and coming...and coming. Even I was amazed with how much I managed to cram into that little bag. So again, remember this is about full disclosure and total honesty before you judge.
So, here we go with Phase 1 of Shannon's Bag Deconstruction:
Left to right: Chanel Double Intensite in Tourmaline, Stila Lip & Cheek Stain in Mango Crush and Raspberry Crush, MAC Dazzleglass in Smile, Bare Escentuals Lipgloss in Birthday Cake,
Lancome Color Fever Gloss in Metallic Sunburst, LORAC 3D Lipgloss in Untamed, and Dior Addict Lip Gloss in #662 & 686
Whew! Okay, we're halfway there. Ready for Phase 2?
Left to right: Clarins "Special" Eye Contour Balm, Batiste Dry Shampoo, Sephora mirror, Chanel Rouge Coco in Paris and Taffetas Rose, Rouge Dior in Mysterious Mauve, Rouge Coco in La Pausa, Rouge Coco Shine in Monte Carlo, BB&W lotion and body spray in Orange Sapphire, Optive eye drops, Glide dental floss, Urban Decay liner in Stash, and Chanel lip liner in Rouge.
Okay, now for those of you who are thinking (rightfully so) that I must be some sort of high-maintenance psycho, I feel the need to clarify. First off, the dry shampoo is only there because I bought it to try it a few days ago and forgot to take it out of my bag. The eye balm is because my eye area gets really tight and dry towards the end of the day. The eye liner...well, I have no idea why that's in there, nor do I know where the dental floss came from.
Which leaves me with 8,242,768 lip products. Well, now you know why I call myself a "Lipstick Diva." I actually use all of those frequently enough to justify having them in my bag. I often change lip color 2-3 times per day, sheerly out of boredom or moodiness. Since I never know what I'm going to be wanting at noon when I leave the house at 6:00, I feel compelled to have an array of colors from which to choose. You all know it would be a tragedy of Shakespearian proportions if I suddenly felt the need to switch from red lipstick to rosy lip gloss and there was none to be found! C'mon!
Anyhow, now you all know the truth about my hoarding issues, and hopefully you'll love me even with my flaws. And if you ever need advice on how to pack a bag with unimaginable amounts of unnecessary stuff, give me a holler.
