This summer Orly introduced its "Pin-Up Girl" collection, a variety of bright, glittery colors designed to make you smile. Smile I did! I found two of the colors especially fun, the grass-green glitter "Here Comes Trouble" and today's Nail of the Day, the bright and sparkly "Bubbly Bombshell."
"Bubbly Bombshell" is a bright fuschia-purple glitter. The color makes me happy...when I look at it, I think of Dorothy's ruby slippers, even though it's not quite the right color. It applies in thin, easily workable layers. It dries quickly and builds fairly easily, although it takes a minimum of 3, sometimes 4, layers to become opaque. However, because the formula is thin and the glitter is tiny, it doesn't get thick or gloppy-looking on the nails.
Here are some shots of "Bubbly Bombshell" taken in bright and indirect sunlight. I used 4 coats to achieve this look:
As you can see, the polish doesn't look too built-up despite the extra coats. The brush on this lacquer is medium-sized and easy to manipulate, and doesn't grab too much color at once. This makes it very easy to get a nice, clean manicure with very little effort.
I'm loving this one, and I have a lot of fun with it. I also get a lot of compliments on it. It doesn't really match a single item in my wardrobe, but hey, a girl's gotta have fun, right?

Hi! I loved your swatch:) I purchased "Here Comes Trouble" from this collection, now I'm thinking of purchasing this one:) I wanted to ask you, what camera do you use to take photos?
September 11, 2011 at 12:27 AMI used an old Canon EOS for these shots. However, I just upgraded to a really nice Sony a55, and it's been amazing. It's an investment, but if you're looking for a good digital SLR, it's a great choice!--Shannon
