Skin Care Review: Reviva Labs DMAE Firming Fluid

About a month ago I was contacted by a rep from Reviva Labs asking if I'd like to try a few of their products.  Having heard a lot of good things about Reviva, I jumped at the chance! One of the products I received was the DMAE Firming Fluid, and I couldn't wait to try it. While I don't have a lot of facial sagging (yet), I do lack firmness in my neck, particularly under my chin. I was really looking forward to trying out the DMAE fluid to see if it could help me.

Reviva Labs considers itself a "quiet" company, in that they don't do the big, splashy ad campaigns or market themselves in Sephora and the like. Rather, they are primarily found in health food stores and salons across the world. Begun back in 1973 by an aesthetician, Reviva Labs has focused on targeted, problem-solving skin care for more than 38 years. Their products are naturally-derived and full of efficacious ingredients. More  importantly, the "good stuff" is always listed very high on the ingredients list...not down at the bottom, which means there's virtually none of the ingredient in the product.

Case in point: Here's the list of ingredients in the DMAE Firming Fluid:

As you can see, the DMAE is listed as the #2 ingredient, which means it's present in significant proportions. Yay! Truth in advertising for a change!

DMAE, which is derived from fish, is an antioxidant ingredient that is helpful in tightening the skin. Used in many high-end products (Dr. Perricone's line is one), it's being touted as a wonder ingredient, able to both protect and firm simultaneously.

Reviva Labs DMAE Firming Fluid contains not only the DMAE, but also glycerin, which helps moisturize the skin. It's a fairly thin, clear gel, and it's meant to be used under a regular moisturizer, although if you're really oily you could probably get away with using it alone. I use it day and night under my regular moisturizer, rubbing it in completely before moving on to the next step in my skin care.

After a month of use, I've noticed some increased elasticity in the skin on my face. Nothing drastic, but again, I didn't have much slack skin on my face, either. However, I've noticed a very definite increase in the firmness of the skin on my neck and under my chin. I really began to note the difference at about 2 weeks. When I apply the fluid, I feel a temporary tightening of the skin; however, after continued use, I believe it's giving me a longer-lasting effect. I'm very pleased!

Bottom Line: The DMAE Firming Fluid from Reviva Labs is a solid product. I've seen benefits from it that are more on the permanent side, as opposed to the typical, temporary "tightening" effect so prevalent in skin-firming products on the market today. While it hasn't exactly re-sculpted my neck, it's definitely improved elasticity, diminished lines, and increased firmness. Furthermore, at $19 for 1 oz., it's a bargain! I'm going to give this one a definite "yes!"

This is really good stuff for cheap! I slightly prefer the serum that also contains Ester C and ALA. Have you tried that one yet, Shannon?
