Luscious Lash Review: Diorshow Extase

As you all probably know by now, I'm a Dior addict. I've fallen in love with the Rouge Dior and Dior Addict lip formulas, the DiorSkin Nude foundation, and, of course, the eye shadows...all of them. I also love the DiorShow Iconic mascara. Now I'm enamored with Iconic's volumizing sister, DiorShow Extase, which adds some serious punch to the lashes, both in volume and length, and even manages to hold a curl.

DiorShow Extase is one of the newer mascara formulas from Dior, and it's a keeper. It adds incredible length and volume, lasts all day, and is easy to remove (unlike Iconic, which can be a bit tricky at times). The black is a deep, dark black, not dusky the way some mascaras can be. Although it isn't as dark as Blackout, it definitely holds its own and adds a nice fringe to your eyes.

I love the brush for Extase:

First of all, it has bristles. I'm not a fan of plastic comb-type brushes...to me, they're hard, uncomfortable to use, and although they're great for separating lashes, they don't seem to leave enough mascara on the lashes with each swipe, leading to the need for repeated application if you want to achieve any type of volume. In my opinion, bristles grab the lashes better, coat them more evenly, and distribute more product while still allowing for separation and definition. Extase's bristles are a double-helix design, with longer bristles to lengthen and separate and shorter ones to deposit product. The overall effect is very dramatic without being spidery. The brush is on the long size, but not so big around that it gets in the way. I find it fairly easy to work with, and it's possible to grab the lashes at the inner and outer corners of the eyes.

Finally, there's the payoff. I love the look Extase gives. It's full, long, and lush, and can be easily built for more drama when you need it. Here are some shots of my eyes with a couple of coats:

Can you believe the length on those babies? I mean, I have good lashes, but still...Extase takes them to a whole new level.

Bottom Line: My current favorite mascara. Easy to apply, easy to remove, and the effect is exactly what I'm looking for. I've been told Extase runs the risk of drying out fairly quickly, but mine is about 2 months old and going strong. Since I have to toss it in a month for hygiene reasons anyway, I'm not too worried. If you're willing to make the investment, this is a great one to try.
