Over the past several months, Tarte has become one of my favorite lines. I adore their brow pencil, have fallen hard for the Lipsurgence lip tints (reviews coming soon), and find that generally speaking, every Tarte product I try is high-quality and does what it says it will do. ReCreate foundation is no exception.
ReCreate Foundation is formulated with what Tarte refers to as "Wrinkle Rewind Technology." Wrinkle Rewind is a proprietary hydrating technology which helps soothe, hydrate and plump the skin, minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. ReCreate also contains gogi berry, a powerful antioxidant, peat extract to moisturize and preserve the skin, wheat extract to preserve moisture in the skin, and mineral pigments to help smooth and soften the skin. Tarte products are all engineered with "high performance naturals" which use proprietary, nature-based ingredients to improve the skin.According to Tarte, clinical results include significant increases in skin's firmness and elasticity, a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and an increase of 52.82% in overall skin moisture within 15 minutes of application. Despite the array of moisturizing properties, ReCreate does not look oily or feel greasy. It gives a natural glow to the skin, with light to medium coverage.
What Tarte ReCreate doesn't have:
- Mineral oil
- Parabens
- Phthalates
- Synthetic fragrance.
- Sodium lauryl sulfate
In addition, it is cruelty-free, dermatologist tested, and clinically tested.
Bottom Line: I personally am really enjoying this foundation. It's definitely a good-skin-day foundation, as the coverage is light (it can be built to medium, but takes some work), but on the days when I don't need to cover much, it's a great base for my makeup. The color selection is good, with 12 shades to choose from (including darker shades). When I use ReCreate, my skin stays moist all day but doesn't get greasy. I do recommend a light dusting of powder if you want a more matte finish, but ReCreate stays put on me all day and doesn't fade for at least 8 hours.
