It's Friday, so technically it's time for another On the Cheap review, but my camera is giving me fits and I'm working from stockpiled photos. So you're going to get an "On the Mid-Price Range Lipstick" review instead. Plus, I got this on Beautyticket.com for only $7.99 instead of the normal $18, so it's actually an On the Cheap after all. Today's review is for Senna's Lip Cream in Valentina.
Senna's Lip Cream Lipsticks are aptly named; they are very creamy, soft and hydrating on the lips, with a satiny sheen finish. They last well and feel good on the lips, and Valentina is a gorgeous, slightly warm true red that will definitely help you stand out from the crowd. It's a very in-your-face red, being quite vivid. It's one of the few reds I consider to be mainly evening-friendly due to the fact that it really shouts "red" when I wear it, unlike a lot of my cooler, yet very red, reds.
Here's a swatch:
As you can see, Valentina pulls just the slightest bit orange on me, which means it's not going to be in my top 5 (or even top 10) reds. That being said, it's still a gorgeous color--I would just say it's probably more suited to warmer skin tones than mine.
The formula is beautiful, leaving the lips hydrated all day. I experienced no feathering or bleeding, and the color faded evenly.
Here's the finished products on my lips:
As you can see, it's a stop-sign red. For comparison, here's a shot of Armani's Scarlatto, one of my favorites:
The Armani is a bit darker and cooler, and at least to me, it's more subdued while still being drop-dead red and incredibly sexy and sophisticated. I can't say that for Valentina.
Bottom Line: While the color Valentina isn't one of my favorite reds, the Senna formula is amazing, and I'll be trying more of their products.
