A Treat for Dry Hands: L'Occitane Dry Skin Hand Cream

L'Occitane is one of my favorite lines for body care. I've already introduced you to the amazingly luxurious Cocoa Butter Ultra Rich Body Cream, which I've been slathering on every night before bed. It's done a great job of keeping me moisturized despite the cooling weather and assaults from dry heaters. I've found the Dry Skin Hand Cream to be equally effective for my hands.

Now, before I start waxing poetic about the Dry Skin Hand Cream, let me tell you a little about my hands. I work in a kitchen and I'm constantly having to scrub my hands with harsh antibacterial soap. By constantly, I mean literally 30-40 times a day sometimes. We aren't allowed to use creams or lotions on our hands at work since they aren't considered sanitary (and because they make it virtually impossible to pull on a glove). So you can just imagine how bad my poor hands look. Here I've spend God only knows how much money keeping wrinkles at bay on my face, yet my hands show every single one of my 41 years (if not more!).

Since I have such a brutal job, I need something incredibly soothing and moisturizing at night. That's where Dry Skin Hand cream comes in. Packed with a whopping 20% shea butter, this stuff is the real deal. It immediately smooths out my crepey hands and takes at least 10 years off of them. It soothes my abused skin and breathes new life into it. It makes my skin feel coated and protected, and as if nothing could harm it.

Here's a shot showing just how thick and rich this cream is:

I mean, seriously, that is one thick cream! However, it still spreads evenly, albeit somewhat heavily, on the skin, offering a protective, highly moisturizing barrier that lasts until morning. I'm truly loving the improvements I've had in my hands since I began using this magical potion.

Bottom Line: This is an amazing product for rough, chapped, severely dry skin. Although I don't know if I would recommend it for daytime due to the fact that it is so heavy, I also don't find it to be greasy. It melts into the skin remarkably quickly yet leaves a protective film behind. It will leave you with soothed, silky-smooth skin, and will heal any chapping you might have. Highly recommended for the harsh winter months.

Lucky duck! As much as I'd love to drown myself in their products though, I've done my time in retail/restaurants and don't want to go back. I MUCH prefer my school schedule, LOL! Plus, I'd have no paycheck left if I worked there!

Thanks for the recommendation.
I'm in the health care field so I completely understand constant hand washings and suffering through dry skin. :(

You're welcome! I have a heck of a time finding a cream that actually helps my skin during the winter, so when I do I sing it from the rooftops! :)
