I love facials. Last year, my husband hit the gifting jackpot and my everlasting gratitude by giving me a HUGE gift certificate to a nearby spa. I spent every last dollar on facials. There's just nothing like lying back and letting someone pamper you with quiet music, a darkened room, and layer after layer of soothing, age-defying skin care. I absolutely adore every minute of it. And the way my skin looks when I leave is unbelievable. Years have melted off, lines have disappeared, moisture has been replenished, my skin tone is brighter, clearer, and more even. Yes, it's heaven. But what about those times when you don't have time (or money) for a spa facial? That's when it's time for an at-home treatment like a mask. Over the years I've collected literally dozens of masks to purify, hydrate, soothe, clarify, de-puff or brighten my skin. The vast majority of these are in a clay or gel base or peel off the skin. So when I was introduced to the Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask, I fell in love with the concept before I even tried it.
The Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask is unlike any of the other masks I've ever tried. According to Bliss, it literally infuses the skin with oxygen, energizing it along the way. According to Bliss, the mask is engineered as a stand-in for their famous Oxygen Facial. It releases oxygen and detoxifiers into the skin to leave it fresh and revitalized. According to Bliss, Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask is a super quick fix for dull, tired skin.
The mask itself looks fairly unremarkable. As a matter of fact, it reminds me of the dish soap we're currently using at my house, which is a moisturizing citrus formula. :) Here's a shot of it:
It's not thick, it's not thin, it's just right. As you can see above, it started sliding down my hand a bit while I was taking the pictures, but it's thick enough that it clung to my skin and moved slowly. The texture is sort of gel-like, but I wouldn't call it a gel at all. There are tiny shimmers infused throughout it as well. To Bliss's credit, they don't try to tell you that somehow these shimmers will brighten your face even though they are completely rinsed off at the end of the mask. I have to give them kudos for keeping the truly ridiculous claims at bay.
As for the action the mask performs on your skin, it's pretty impressive! After massaging into damp skin, the mask immediately (almost before you can massage it completely over your skin) begins foaming into a light froth. It continues to do so throughout the duration of the prescribed time (5 minutes).
Here's a shot of the glorious fizzy foam:
When using the mask, it actually foams up even more than this shot shows. I simply applied it on dry skin to get this photo; when the water from your damp skin is added to the mix, the foam is denser, thicker, and more active. I absolutely love the feeling of this mask, the only slight issue I have being that it tends to tickle a bit when it's foaming up on my face, causing me to realllllly want to scratch my nose! But it's amazing to sit back and feel as if something is actually happening to my skin.
After rinsing, my skin is invariably left soft, smooth, hydrated and comfortable, in marked contrast to many other masks I've tried which have left me feeling tight and flushed. I feel as if my pores have been flushed clean by the bubble action, yet nothing has been stripped from my skin. Additionally, products seem to sink in more quickly after using the Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask. My skin tone is clearer and more even, there is radiance where previously there had been none. This is a wonderful mask to use in the morning when you wake up looking like death warmed over. It's also a great pre-party treatment to give you added radiance.
Bottom Line: To date, this is my favorite mask. I can actually feel it working and it gives amazing results. It only requires 5 minutes, so it can be used literally any time you need it. A little goes a long way, so although the initial layout ($52) seems steep, it actually calculates out to only a couple of dollars per treatment when you figure in how many uses you will get out of the generous 3.4 oz size. If your skin is looking lackluster and you can't get to an aesthetician STAT, this is your ticket.
