I recently had a very unfortunate situation with my skin. Normally dry and fairly sensitive but clear, I suddenly went through a period of constant breakouts. Seeing that I'm almost 42, this seemed completely unfair and ridiculous. I'm sure many of you out there agree that there's just something WRONG about having to battle wrinkles and zits at the same time. WRONG, I tell you! Plus, since I hadn't had breakouts in a long, long time, I'd forgotten what to do about them. At first, I just pretended there wasn't a problem. Then, I attacked it viciously, which just inflamed my face and made matters worse. Finally, out of desperation (and before biting the bullet and heading to the dermatologist), I headed to--of course--Sephora to see what I could find.
Luckily for me, I came across the lovely Morgan, who just happened to manage the skincare section of the store and was therefore pretty familiar with all of the products. As soon as I explained my dilemma, she walked me straight over to the DDF display and grabbed the Therapeutic Sulfur Mask. She explained to me that I could use it in a couple of ways: I could use it as an all-over mask while my skin was in full breakout mode, or I could use it as a spot treatment once things calmed down a bit.The DDF Therapeutic Sulfur Mask has as it's active ingredient 10% sulfur, a known acne fighter. It also boasts kaolin clay, bentonite clay, and talc to absorb oil and help dry out blemishes, plus aloe, allantion and titanium dioxide to soothe and help heal the skin. All in all, it's got an impressive list of ingredients, so I took the plunge.
As it happened, the mask worked! Within a week, my skin had cleared considerably and the few blemishes that were left had shrunken in size and were well on their way to healing. The angry red spots I'm normally left with after breakouts were healing and fading quickly, as well. These days, I use it as a spot treatment whenever I see something suspicious brewing on my skin. By morning, the blemish has either disappeared or at least diminished.
Bottom Line: This is definitely a once-a-week treatment, as I got a little carried away at first and wound up a little dry and flaky. However, when used as directed or solely on affected areas, it definitely does the trick. I'm planning to keep this in my emergency kit for the future.
