Zuzu Luxe Eye Shadow Review, "Odyssey"

Zuzu Luxe Cosmetics is the spa-grade color line from Gabriel Cosmetics, whose lip gloss I reviewed here a couple of weeks ago. Both companies pride themselves on their use of natural, safe ingredients focusing on plant extracts and oils. While I love my Gabriel Color lip gloss, I must say that the Zuzu Luxe line is slightly more sophisticated and luxurious. On a recent trip to Whole Foods, the line caught my eye and I picked up a lipstick and an eye shadow, Odyssey.

Odyssey is a lovely browned plum with subtle shimmer. In the pan, it appears very plummy with a good bit of purple undertone:
Indirect natural light, no flash

Natural light with flash.

However, despite its pan appearance, on the skin it warms up considerably and has more of a brown base, perfect for a neutral eye with a kick.

The formula is exceptional. This shadow is very finely milled and silky on the skin and it blends incredibly easily. The pigmentation is excellent and allows for easy building. The finish is satiny, not shimmery, which is very flattering for my no-longer-twenty-years-old lids.

I absolutely LOVE this color!

I'm really quite impressed with these shadows, and plan to get more in the future. They apply easily and last all day over primer with no creasing or fading. Additionally, the ingredients are all natural and safe, which is always a plus.

Bottom Line: Zuzu Luxe eye shadows are a real find. I see Eternity and Vixen in my near future! The quality is excellent, especially the blending capability and rich pigmentation. The shadows can also be used wet for extra depth and color intensity, or as liners. At $15.25 per shadow, they're also reasonably priced. I definitely recommend you give them a try if you can find them.

Zuzu Luxe cosmetics can be found at Whole Foods Market and online on the main Gabriel Cosmetics site.

Ingredients: Mica, Cetyl Palmitate, Silica, Kaolin, Zinc Stearate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Lecithin, Crithmum Maritimum (Sea Fennel) Extract*, Tocopheryl Acetate, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide.   *Organic

LOL, yes I knew that was coming! As a matter of fact, I nearly referenced you directly in the review! Luckily for you, this line is a winner, too so your namesake remains intact and associated with quality! You should really try it, though. This shadow rivals a lot of my high-end faves like Dior and Chanel.
